INITIAL CONSULTATION & ASSESSMENT
The initial assessment is a comprehensive evaluation focused on obtaining an accurate psychiatric diagnosis and identifying symptoms for treatment.
CHILD AND ADOLESCENT SPECIFIC CARE
I take a family-centered approach to working with children and adolescents. At each visit, I will meet with the parent and child separately as well as together. The frequency of appointments will be discussed with me and is determined by the complexities of presenting symptoms, the initiation of new medications and concerns raised. I consider developmental stages and work with the family to create a specific treatment plan that works for the whole family.
MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
I use an evidence-based medicine approach for psychiatric medication management. I will provide extensive education regarding symptoms and diagnosis, treatment plan and medication regimen. My treatment philosophy involves using the least amount of psychotropic medications necessary for treatment. Not all child and adolescent patients are started on medication. Before psychotropic medications are initiated, target symptoms, outcomes, medication side effects, risks/benefits and alternatives are discussed at length. Patients are typically seen for medication management initially more frequently if a medication is started.
PSYCHOTHERAPY
I can help your child work through current school and life stressors. I use an eclectic style of therapy, which are combinations of various modalities. Different Modalities include and are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Supportive Psychotherapy. If your child requires a referral to a specialized therapy services, such as Applied Behavioral Analysis, Social Skills Training groups, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Multi-systemic Therapy, etc that will be discussed with you.
CONSULTATION
I provide second opinions and guidance to current psychiatric diagnosis and treatment concerns you have from another provider. This will be completed in multiple sessions. I will review your entire medication and psychiatric history. This also includes discussion with your primary doctor, coordination of care review of other evaluations. After your evaluation, I will schedule a follow-up visit to discuss my recommendations.
